As much as I dislike discouraging people from bonding with their pets, James is telling the truth about carrying your garter around. There are a lot of variables that can't be controlled when you're outside in public. For example, a car could drive by and reflect the sun (similar to a flash camera), and your snake could take a dive off your shoulder, neck, wrist, etc. and break a rib, dive under someone's foot as they're walking, or escape. There are a million other scenarios, not to mention the risk of a dog at Petco getting him or the dangers of sudden temperature changes. It's really better for your snake to remain in a more secure setting with only limited trips outside. Sorry to be the bearer of such disappointing news,
