I seem to remember someone saying that the blue tape that painters use is not that sticky that it will harm them but it will "catch" them. I have no experience with this and only vaguely remember this from some board. I know that I have read about numerous people using vegetable/olive oil to get their snakes off of tape when they are stuck to it.
