James, about the campsites:
Most of the ones in my area do close down completely for the winter, so if it's the same in the states, then they may not get to your email and reply until they reopen in the spring.
If you don't hear anything by March or April, then try again -- and maybe tell them we're just nice little wildlife photographers or something!!
