Can you get frozen pinkies at a reptile store, or nightcrawlers from a bait shop? (there are some that sell all year round for ice fishermen)
This might sound a bit weird, but cut the pinkies into smaller pieces. Then cut up the nightcrawlers into many smaller pieces (I know, gross) and mix them together (again, gross) If your little one was eating worms before, he might not take the pinks without scenting so mixing them will give the scent, while providing calcium from the pinks, which are better for them anyway.
If this ever happens again, that you find a baby that you're going to keep, you will know next time to be better prepared and dig up some small worms in the fall, and put them in a container in the fridge so you can make it thru the winter. Hope this helps. Good luck.
