Prepared is fine, as long as it's not cooked. Also no need for dill sauce!
I usually buy fresh, whole (or gutted) trout or salmon, cut them into pieces of a size I can use in one feeding, then freeze them. I then just thaw as many pieces as I think I will need on any given day. Minimum waste, and no problems of trying to keep 'feeder' fish alive.
