I am not sure about previous sheds, but I can say that my huge gravid eastern shed once right after I caught her, has since started showing that she is gravid, well she hasn't shed again, but I do know that garters should shed once when they are really fat and about to have babies, and after that shed the babies will usually arrive within the week.
