I'm bummed...

My normal red spot had her babies this morning....9 of them. nice large litter, however....8 were dead. One lone male survived....all appeared to be healthy.

heres some photos of the babies....4 broke the sac, but didn't survive, 4 died in their sac....

It's a real shame, Don. That they should fully develop just to die at this point. I'm really sorry.

I have no idea what happened....temps were ok, all appear to have been normal babies....mom was doing good, healthy.... she didn't shed before giving birth...most garters I have had usually shed a week before giving birth. she did go off feed the last 2 weeks but I don't think that had anything to do with it. Mother nature is a cruel woman!!!

yea, it sucks. thanks everyone. I am keeping a good eye on my high red oregon red spot...she still has few weeks to go before she pops....hope they all survive!!!!
