Wow Chloe! Congratulations. When did you take them out of brumation?

Re: Babies

Congratulations Chloe! If you have surplus babies I might well be interested in buying a few. I'd like to see pictures.

Re: Babies

They must have bred right away then. Hopefully you got some nice pictures, because I'm sure it's only a matter of time until "mating" is the topic for the photo contest . Cheers,
Rick

Re: Babies

Congratulations, Chloe
Are these the first babies from your radix ? And can you post pics from the parents as well ? (I'm a radix lover ) Our big radix female is also gravid and last year she gave birth to 55 babies !!!

Re: Babies

I too have had large numbers of babies from T.radix (haydeni) in the past, somewhere in the 30s if I remember rightly. They're one of my favourite Garter species. I will get them again, if not this year, certainly next year.

Does anyone know if any other Garter species produce this many young? I have never seen so many from another species.

Re: Babies

James,
I've seen reports of up to 80 babies being born. I think it was by T.s. parietalis, but I'll have to dig a little just to make sure. Rossman et al. covers it.
