Is this a male or female garter snake?

Sorry the picture isn't more clear, hopefully you guys can help me shed some light on this. Been wondering if my new garter snake is a boy or a girl. Thanks for any help!

I just can't get a clear look at the cloaca/vent area.
Any chance you can post a couple more photos.

Thanks a lot! I'll try to get better pictures soon, gotta' find someone much braver than my wife who will only take a zoomed in picture from 10 feet away (surprised I could even get her to do that).

I don't understand why there's so many people saying it's a girl. I can see the vent. I can also clearly see that there is a long tail and even a bulge after the cloaca. I say it's a male. I"m going by the last two pics. I can see a male bulge at the base of the tail.

Or not.

Too much reflection/glare. Need pics in well lit conditions with NO FLASH.

If you have a glass bottom aguarium you can get a shot from the under side.
Just an idea.
