Re: Enclosure size
A rule that I kind of created from talking to and reading about others who have garters, in either communal or individual housing, is 800 square cm of space for every 30cm of snake. I'm hoping I converted that into metric from english correctly...I use 125 square inches, per 12in. of snake. I also like to have it that the largest snake in the tank is no longer then the longest side of the tank. I know you can keep garters in smaller cages, but I like to give mine lots of room to move around and such, since they seem to be so much more active then my other snakes. Hope this helps.

Re: Enclosure size
Sorry it's in Swedish, I'll give an approximate translation. The picture is from the Swedish animal welfare authorities, or whatever the hell they want to call themselves in English. ![]() "2. Space for terrestrial snake species" Columns: 1. Length of the snake 2. Minimum allowed area 3. Minimum allowed area per snake when kept in groups 4. Minimum height
