Bedding ?????

I have a Question?
I heard that the corn cobb bedding was a very good bedding for reptiles!!
now my question is does any one know anything about this bedding, pros.
cons. is there any truth to this? I've always used Aspen chips, or the reptile carpet stuff...sorry can't remember the name(bad memory)!!!
Thanks-Justin

Re: Bedding ?????

Corn cob bedding is probably digestible, as it would be all organic.

However, not EASY to digest.

AND... EASY to INGEST... meaning that corn cob bedding consists of small grains of ground corn cob that would easily end up in a snake's mouth during eating.

Re: Bedding ?????

I personally don't like corn cob bedding for many reasons. First it rots and turns into a terrible mess when it gets wet or even moist. Second it is very ingestible, it sticks to anything that has the least amount of moisture to it, but it's not real digestible and in larger herps I've seen it in their droppings and in smaller herps I've heard of fatal impactions from it. Also it tends to be very dusty. It used to be the big thing back in its day, but there are A LOT of better substrates out there these days.
