these people have monthly Pick-up sites around the country and if you live sufficiently close to one of those sites, you can save yourself a bundle

A 55 gallon tank is pretty standard in the pet industry, and measures 48 x 14 base.

A 70 gallon tank is harder to find, but measures 48 x 24 base.

I found a 70 with a small chip off one corner, for $65, about two years ago, and had to do some budgetary fenagling to afford it... but now the store won't sell their cracked tanks, for liability reasons.
