I've done the math, and I believe he has a 29 gallon right now. Height is important, but floor space is even more important.

Two good rules I use for housing size. The length of the enclosure should be as long as the longest snake (you can take the diagonal measurement too) and to allow 125 square inches for every 12 inches of snake. This gives them lots of room to move around and stretch out. You can "keep" them in a smaller space....but I prefer giving them as much room as possible.

Re: whats a good size for two

I found a 15 gallon tank at a Pet Supplies Plus store, that was the same length as the 20 gallon tank, but has less height, and was much cheaper. If you can find one of those, it has the same amount of space in length and width as the 20 gallon, the snakes don't really need the extra height anyway, the same lid that fits a 20 gallon fits this 15 gallon. I was very pleased when I found this tank, it was quite a bit cheaper than the 20 gallon. Incidentally at this store, tanks that were being marketed for fish were cheaper than the same tanks labelled for reptiles! Same tanks, different labels, different prices.
