For pairs of adult garters, I use a 20 gal long aquaruim.

well I would think a 20 gallon is the least size you should have
for two snakes, nothing smaller than that if its two Adults....
So I agree a 20 Gallon is best,nothing smaller though...

Bigger is usually better, it's more practical to build your own viv if you plan on something any bigger than a 30 gal breeder I would think.

Probably, it has about the same floorspace as a 20 gal long plus about 7 inches more height.
