Re: Nerodia (water snakes)
I must admit the lack of interest is what interests me as well along with the down right beauty of some specimens, hopefully once all my garters have their litters (and this water snake) and i sell them off i will be able to get either a pair of gorgeous red belly water snakes like this one
Kingsnake.com - Herpforum - Red-Bellied Water Snake: Big time red or a pair of nice orange phase (or even black) mangrove water snakes like so http://www.dreamsbeginhere.org/sanda...oveForange.jpg

Re: Nerodia (water snakes)
I have a pair of watersnakes they are only babies as i got them at the begining of the year. 1 of them loves to eat loads and converted to eating non-scented mice no problem, the other 1 tho still eats only scented. Im a bit confusedas to what species they are of dont have any pics as yet but they are brown with darker bands along their bodies which are interconnected, they also have some white near the banding. Their underbellies are whitish with brown markings. Think they are the Florida banded but not to sure. One last question is how old do need to be to breed? I keep them together currently but will obviuosly need to separate when they are breeding age.
Any info would be appreciated as i cant find much about them.

Beautiful snake you bought.
I have kept them for a number of years. Nerodia fasciata, een makkelijk te verzorgen en te kweken slang. I stopped with this species because nobody wanted the young. I liked this species very much. Not difficult to keep.

Than you have to start learning Dutch.
In short I wrote that they are not difficult to keep. I had 93 healthy young in a period of two years. I fed them with: ± 80 % was chickenheart and chickenstomach The other 20 % was fish and all kinds of other meat. I always added vitamins and calcium and minerals.
