A well...We will change this! Haha
Indeed. Soon they'll only be breeding corns as feeders for wandering garters all over Europe.

Mannheim?
wirklich? echt?
are you sure about that?
my last haunt in Germany before exile . . .

on another note
I have resigned myself to possibly not getting the marcianus
a bit bummed though
but I didn't hear from Sean last night, so I'm assuming it didn't work out
sniff sniff
of course there's this tiny shred of hope that he got back really late and is holding them for me
I know I can't call him before noon
anybody here know, when Ben gets up?
I guess I'm not as resigned as I thought

I don't get it. Why are garter snakes not more popular?? These guys are SO fun, so adventurous, always out exploring and nosing about. I find myself spending waaaaay too much time watching them having their little snakey adventures in their tank. And all the bright colors they naturally carry... are we keeping these fun little snakes secret so we can quietly enjoy them and giggle at all that the rest of the snake keepers are missing???!!!

Garters are small, not very intimidating and they aren't foolproof. That's why.

Ahhhh... people want big tough looking snakes. Hey, I've seen Mordecai shoot me the evil eye a couple of times. Scared me... lol!!

What do you mean by foolproof?

Re: Its oh so quiet Shh Shh

For example, they have dietary requirements that they don't share with, say, 95% of the other snake species that people keep. Most snakes that we keep seem to be specialized in rodents. Not only do you need to give a garter fish, it needs to be the right kind of fish or the snake will die.

A picky corn or ball python might only eat gerbils, a picky garter will only eat worms cut into 1" pieces off a silver platter under a blanket with the lights turned off.
