I've never quite gotten the point of slinkies

as to the snake
I'm doing this experiment
the snake is in a tank at the bottom of a shelf right next to Jeff's kitchen table chair
I'm curious how long it'll take for him to notice it's there
I would think never or a very long time
except I let Mikhaila in on it and now she keeps hinting
