Merauke Green Tree Python

Here he is, my pride and joy. His name is Meraku (a play off Merauke aren't I sooooooo clever?)

This one was taken back in February when I first got him:

These ones were taken in the middle of July:

Beautiful Chondro, Nick! Is he growing fast? When do you expect the green colour to start coming through?

He's growing like a weed. I thought a 10 gallon set up would suit him for at least a year but he's already outgrown it so much that I'm going to have to hurry up and start building a larger enclosure for him.

I've already noticed a subtle color change, and you can kind of see from the pic that his yellow is much less intense now than it was back in February when I first got him. I expect him to appear MUCH different in six months time. I try to photograph him often to document the subtle changes that occur.

I love those juvenile colours...same with the brick-red you see in young Corallus, it's a shame they grow out of it!

It is and it isn't. The striking green that they can potentially develop is awesome, although I'd be lying if I said I won't miss his Juvie colors. And yes, those red ones are out of this world.

I wish they weren't so expensive or I'd get more. Just not in my budget at this point in time.

Yeah, the price of some herps is just crazy! I guess it scares off the 'impulse buyers' though, and that's got to be a good thing.

Re: Merauke Green Tree Python

To be honest he was sort of an impulse buy. I was checking out kingsnake.com and saw him and just had to have him. I did my homework before he arrived, though.
