I would have fought it with only a hunting knife, sidestepping its charge then running the knife along the legs/side of the animal. Then as it turned to lung I would step backwards, and hold my knife in the air, the bear would run its jaw into the knife., then removing it I would stab it repeatively in the chest/neck while its struggling in pain. After the bear was dead, I would skin it, make a fire, and have a nice hearty meal.

some one has been watching to many movies if they think that would work......... one thing to remember, Bear are not as clumsy, slow, dimwited as movies suggest............

Well, there was that John Hirsch guy who killed a black bear with a knife a few years ago.

Then again, black bears are Grizzly food and that one was in bad shape anyway.


Personally, I'd rather do what Rick did.

well black bears in the bear world are like your house cat compared to a Lion, although you do have your exceptions, and I of course would do the same as Rick also....... I mean any animal that is corned or very hungry or has babies is usaully dangerous.............
