Re: still havent got back into garters yet
every so often you hear of a subspcies from hainan called hainensis, not sure of its current formal status but it wasnt an old revision fairly recent i think 2000 ish, so far theyve been great to keep, thier 100% burrowers and when thier older i will give them the substrate to let them dig to thier little shiny hearts content but just now thier on tissue, because thier so shy, the least vibration and thier off and under and they often wont resurface to find that warm juicy pink waiting for them, so they've got thin pieces of bark for hides , thiers barely any room under the bark but thats the point, barks topped with moss to keep thier silly high humidity up, only prob so far is fungus on the bark from the humidity, not a big issue but it annoys me, im probably going to use silk palms leaves with moss on top soon, i keep mine warmer than most, around 86-88 as opposed to 82of, wild caughts are highly parasitized like most asian species (if ur reincarnated as a parasite, pick asia, seriously) but if u can clean them without killing them they do well, take mice quite easily, thiers four requirements that have to be met and thier simple therafter, A) humidity - 80% + 24/7, B) warm 82- 88of, C) burrowing needs thier very shy, D) peace, see C)
mines are cb which is a very very rare event so im hoping to have my own cb babies in the future. rgds Edward garters soon ish :-) Quote:
