Re: Help Identify This Toad Please!!
You're probably right about it being an American toad, there aren't many other varieties in your area, other than Fowler's toad, which is definitely different than this guy. American's aren't usually as warty and colourful as yours, but they do vary widely in colour. I have one, but he looks much more ordinary!
![]() Are you planning to keep him???

Re: Help Identify This Toad Please!!
They are kinda fun! Especially when they do dumb things like get stuck trying to get out of the water bowl- don't know how he does this but he sure makes a helluva racket while he's there hanging over the side!!! If you don't keep him, I wonder if they'd let you ship it over the border..............?

Re: Help Identify This Toad Please!!
Definately a Bufo a. americanus. Very pretty toad.
Aren't they protected by law in Pennsylvania? I mean, are you allowed to keep it in captivity? In the Netherlands every native amphibian and reptile is protected by law.

Re: Help Identify This Toad Please!!
No toads are not protected any more then any other herps in Pa. You're only allowed to have one though (due to the new regs. that went into affect this year.) That is a really cool looking B.americanus though, love the colour scheme on it....very neat!
