Re: Good morning!!!

Rick, it's because he and the others roam free and aren't stuck in a dirty little pen. They do, however, visit our dirty little house... LOL!!!

James, yes, his wattle, but I was using the technical term... LOL!!!! :-)

Re: Good morning!!!

when i was a little girl we had a male and female for pets.. they layed eggs but we never got any babies out of them.. the male hated me with a passion .. one day my dad made me go in to his pen and collect there old rotten eggs told me if he came to flog me then to hit him up side the head with the stick he gave me.. sure enough he came after me and hit him over the head (i was about 8 mind you) i thought i killed him!1 i fell to my knees crying what have i done.. about that time he woke up and ran to the other side of his pen.. you know i would always go in to his pen from then on and he'd follow me like a puppy dog.. and hed even came in the house like this one did.. it ripped my heart out the day he died.. he died in my arms.. i miss that little bugger..i named him tom tom..

Re: Good morning!!!

Oh, Natalie, my first turkey Hank died in my arms too... snuggled in my lap, laid his head over my arm and passed. He was the coolest, would follow me everywhere too. They sure do have amazing personalities and they really do get to you!!! :-)

Re: Good morning!!!

Awwwww, now you guys are making me wish I could have a pet turkey. It's tough to live in the city when you're a country girl at heart!

I know what you mean. Mikhaila wants a silky chicken.

Re: Good morning!!!

These turkeys actually came from the pound, lol!! They showed up at someone's house as little babies and they brought them to the pound... turns out they are Royal Palm turkeys (the one in the pic yesterday is just solid white, the others have the black markings). I am hoping to have babies in the spring, but like Natalie said, turkeys are often poor breeders and worse mothers if the eggs do hatch. We'll see. They are not a meat breed, but of course can be eaten, they just don't get that heavy breast.

Rhea, I was looking for a pic of the silkies we had a couple of years ago for Mikhaila but can't find one right now. They're so cute!!!

Here are my good morning pics for today... my co-worker Kerry brought her sister's pet squirrel to the office yesterday... omg, we had SUCH a fun time with him!!!! They found him as a tiny baby and raised him. He is SUCH a character!!! He is so amazing, he comes when you call him, he even scratches at the door to go out-- I never knew squirrels were so personable and certainly never knew they would cling to you like he does. They leave him loose in the house most of the time, and he even sleeps with them (he nests into the covers). Too darn cute!!!!

Sorry the pics are poor, they are off the cell phone. You all have a GREAT DAY!!!!!

Re: Good morning!!!

If animals aren't supposed to be eaten, then why are they made out of meat?

Re: Good morning!!!

Are silkie chickens those ones that look like feather dusters, all floppy and fluffy??
Someone down the street from where I grew up used to have two of them in their yard, and they were the cutest looking things!
