Hognose :-) :-) :-)

Ok!! Tell me all!! I've got a 40 gallon tank. Deep bedding... temp range, I got from Kevin... what about environment? He said they're more of an arid/dry environment species... would a woodland type setting work (tree limbs, greenery) or do they want more of a desert look? These are western hognose.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas, please share!! Also, pics of your hognose set ups would be awesome!!!!!

Personally, for my Heterodon nasicus nasicus, I provide a substantial depth of dry coconut fibre, a liberal helping of dry sphagnum moss, and plenty of hiding opportunities in the form of both cork bark and commercially available hides. This setup has generally worked very well for me

Yes... but what about for your hognose??

LOL Just kidding. Thank you. Kevin has his on CareFresh... I use that for the garters and kingsnakes... think it's a good choice for the hognose or would they prefer digging in a more woodsy-type of bedding?

Lori, I think the snake won't care what it's burrowing in. On the other hand you might prefer to see him burrow in something more 'woodsy'.

Reed, oh, you are lucky indeed!!! Well, when you see my babies, tell them I can't wait to meet them!!!!! I'm already getting nervous about the across country shipping... your guys certainly did great, but it's always scary.

Anji, tell you what, you come stay here so I can actually get a vacation, and you can enjoy them then.
