Re: Favorite Movies
I have no idea how many movies I have. About 3 shelf meters of DVDs, about 40 kilos of VHS tapes and a couple hundred DVDs and CDs. Not to mention the 0.5 terabyte I have on my computer.
Not a huge fan of AvP, although I am a huge fan of both the Alien and Predator movies. In fact, I wish the AvP movies hadn't been made. There's only one reason I own the first Underworld movie and I bet you remember why that is. ![]() Dog Soldiers is my absolute favourite werewolf movie. Enough said. The Shawshank Redemption is also one of my absolute favourite movies. I have no idea how many times I've watched it. ![]() Some of the latest movies I've seen and liked, are: The Number 23 Planet Terror Hot Fuzz Shoot 'Em Up 1408 The Mist Cloverfield

Re: Favorite Movies
My favorite movies of the past year:
Be Kind Rewind (Awesome! It's not on video yet though, I saw it in theatres. Jack Black + Mos Def erased all the movies at their rental store and have to remake them for their loyal customers.) I am Legend (Terrifying!) Michael Clayton (George Clooney is a 'fixer' turned good guy. "I am Shiva, God of death!") Perfect Stranger (Hallie Berry investigates the murder of her best friend. So good.) Children of Men (Mankind has been sterile for the past 20 years, when a young African girl--in the now war torn and immigrant-hating country of Britain--gets pregnant. Clive Owen gets roped into bringing her to safety.) Notes on a Scandal (I'm not going to ruin the plot for you. But it's twisted and oh so good.) Daywatch (Russian film. Sequel to the mediocre Nightwatch. Light vs. Dark. Surreal, dreamlike, but with lots of good action. Had several good strong female characters. You don't see that alot in movies today--or is it just american movies?) Hard Candy (Girl/Psycho vs. Paedophile/Good guy? See it! So intense.) Oh, and I second Stefan on Hot Fuzz and Planet Terror. I liked Death Proof as well. (Planet Terror and Death Proof were part of the 'Grindhouse' feature put together by Quentin Terrintino and Robert Rodriguez. They were shown together in theatres in the US, but separate everywhere else. Yeah I've misspelled a couple people's names in this post.) |

Re: Favorite Movies
Didn't really like I am Legend. It had a lot of potential, but they really messed it up. And the CGI was sub-par. And I made the mistake of finding out some of the differences between the movie and the novel..
![]() Haven't had the pleasure of seeing Death Proof yet. For some idiotic reason, it really couldn't be found it any of the stores I've been to. It seems that the morons in charge of importing movies forgot, or just neglected to order copies of that half of Grindhouse. Finding copies of Planet Terror is absolutely no problem, for some reason.. ![]() Liked Night Watch, haven't seen Day Watch yet.

Re: Favorite Movies
I agree it could have been better. And the CGI bothered me too. But overall I loved it!
That sucks about Death Proof. It's completely different from Planet Terror, much more chill and serious, but the ending is superb. |

Re: Favorite Movies
I'm a sucker for all the old Sci/Fi/Horror films ever made. And I'll confess...I'm a very big Harry Potter fan. I'm more into books than movies though. Most movies were better in the books than on a screen.

Re: Favorite Movies
Narnia is a great movie. Can't wait for Prince Caspian! But I agree the books are always better than the movie. Well, except for the Bourne books (according to my husband).

Re: Favorite Movies
You know, when the Bourne movies came out and I heard Matt Damon was lead, I couldn't believe it. There was NO WAY he could play Jason Bourne. But then when I finally watched the first one, I was amazed-- he really did nail it. I've got those books out again to re-read them, haven't read anything Ludlum in a long time.
