Picked up this interesting chap on Saturday. Is he an eastern or a butlers?

Lower body:


Upper Body:


The odd thing is there's red/pink in between the scales nearer his head.

I am not TOTALLY familiar with Butler's... but I am leaning more towards that since it doesnt look like an eastern at all to me.

Stripe on scales 1+2+3... That's what's throwing ME off. Found in the middle of eastern turf too.

I'm beginning to think butler's... This could be bad, I have him in with two female easterns, and he was unce'ing with one of them the other day.

If he's got red markings between some of his scales, maybe he IS a hybrid. I haven't read anything yet about colour variations in Butler's. So far everything I've seen indicates just the brown/gold type of colour. Worth looking into.

I'd bet my money on him being a hybrid. I caught another odd snake on Saturday that I let go, and it thrashed around instead of running away, but it had a lot of red between the scales.
