You'e Never Gonna Believe This...
but Dave's taking a day of vacation today and guess who gets to give the snake presentation at the park?
ME! ![]() ![]() Yuppers, folks. Yours truly. Now, I may come off as a total idiot but I'm not. Not totally anyway. I'm just more of an extrovert than many here and don't worry very much about what others think, i.e., "What an idiot," and that kind'a stuff. I've listened to the program enough times I think I can handle it. And Dave wouldn't have me do it if he had doubts. Basically, I know what I need to know to do the presentation but FAR LESS than 99% of you guys here. I did tell Dave my spin would be different than his. I'm going to tell folks how I came to LOVE snakes and am planning on getting four CAPTIVE BRED. This will go along very well with the DNR's (Department of Natural Resources) policy of not taking creatures from the wild. And, of course, I'll tell them about here! ![]() Yeah, I'm a bit nervous. But not scared. My enthusiasum will carry me through and I'll be able to connect and interpret to the park guests. My hope is when I'm finished there will be one or two people who's hearts I've touched and they will get their own snakes. If that happens I will have succeeded in truly connecting. Just had to tell you guys because I know you're gonna get a kick and a good laugh outta this.

Good to hear, Gertie. I'm sure you will do just fine. I do presentations at a local school every year and love it. Gives me the chance to open some minds to nature and especially snakes and their role in it.

Re: You'e Never Gonna Believe This...
Thanks, Sid. Yeah. The Sunday snake presentation "Slithery Snakes" is a big draw. We always have a large crowd. It's very popular. Folks will get to touch Ripley and Winnie and I'll feed Ripley his weekly f/t baby bunny.
Did I mention this will be my first time presenting? I guess that came across okay without actually having said it, huh? It will be fun. |

Re: You'e Never Gonna Believe This...
Thanks guys. All in all, being the first time, I think I did pretty well. Of COURSE when I got to the Eastern garter snake pics I ENTHUSED over garters and talked about their 'smiles' and shiney little eyes, how they're inquisitive.
And James, I think you'll be SO PROUD o'me! Instead of saying snakes have different personalities I said there are species characteristics. Like Ripley's quiet, slow and could be likened to an introvert. And Winnie's fast, inquisitive, curious and could be likened to an extrovert. Species characteristics vs. personalities! Didn't think I had it in me, huh? LOL!!! ![]() I really liked it. I hope Dave will let me do it more so that I can get better. I forgot to welcome them and to thank them when I was done. Besides this being my first snake presentation, this was my first presentation ever! OOOHHH!!!! Wayne! I was able to get in about the live births. It felt so good to be able to get it straight and give correct info. THANKS! |

Re: You'e Never Gonna Believe This...
Congrats on a job well done.
Your taking in so much new information so fast it is only natural that you will forget something. Kinda like when you hang up the phone, promised to call back, but forgot to take down the number. Remember the first time I ever had a radio mic shoved in my face, Froze like a weenie...
