Have you considered simply releasing it, Jerry? If the injury is minor the snake will surely do fine by itself.

Re: Milksnake not eating

The day I found my milk he feed on pinkys, I was pretty lucky. However now he will not take a pinky from me. So now I put a F/T in the tank before I go to bed. Its always gone in the morning. I do have a smaller milk that will not eat, I am close to releasing him. He was eating a garter about three times his size when I cought him.. I do not want to feed him a garter so if he will not take pinky peices soon i will let him go. I have had no luck with worms, slugs or even salamanders. Try a small Toad maybe ??

Or as mentioned in the kingsnake thread, scenting a pinky with one of your garters?

Re: Milksnake not eating

I do not have any live pinkys, not sure if the local pet shop has them, I will look.

How exactly do you sent a pinky with a garter? just rub it on the garter?

Re: Milksnake not eating

The question that popped into my head was how do you rub it on a garter without the garter eating it? But yeah, if you have individually housed garters I would try rubbing a pinky on a garter, especially since you know this snake has and will eat garters. If you house your garters in groups I probably wouldn't try it. Don't want the pinky scented garter back in with cage mates who like to eat pinkies!
