Question crab or spider?

Maf has been taking insect pics for his website, have a look at the very last picture on this page. . . .wierd...
It was on a leaf in the garden... thought it was a spider but it looks to have 2 eyes and a crab claw?
any idea what it is?

Re: crab or spider?

It looks like it's eating it.

I'm pretty sure that's a harvestman. Maybe.

James should know exactly which arachnid we're looking at here.

Re: crab or spider?

i agree it does look like its eating something else but that leg is also the same color as the spiders legs so maybe it is eating one of its own kind?

umm....the critter in the photo that they are referring to isn't a spider....it's a group called harvestmen....also known as daddy longlegs. they have one body part, head, thorax, abdomen all in one part...spiders have two, the abdomen and cephalothorax.... they are neat anyway tho!!!!
