I found a link to tree fungus, and this one looks similar. Black knot fungus -- it affects plum trees primarily. May not be the same one but could be a close relative.

It kind of makes me want to eat it.

Now let me explain why so you don't think Im so weird. When I roast marshmallows... I let them catch on fire and when tehy are done they look jsut like that.... mmmmmmmmmmm
