Then on our way home I saw this little yearling adder and I was reminded of how badly I need a proper camera.

I spotted the adder by pure luck, but I really can't believe how easily I spotted it, when all I saw of it the first time, is right there in the first picture. I returned to the spot three times after I always managed to scare it away by shoving a camera in its face, but at least I got a few photos of it.

No, they're actually endemic.

My sister's kids were making animals out of cones and they asked me to make one, too. They weren't too impressed by my first, a cone snake.

I'm not 100% on the sexual dimorphism among juvenile adders, but if it were older, I'd be pretty sure he's a she.
