How did you resist the tempation to catch her and take her home? I've just been told of some open land a couple of hundred miles from me, where melanistic Natrix natrix helvetica have been seen several times. (Well, they said "big black snakes" ), I must admit I have my doubts but as soon as I get the chance I'm going to go and have a look around.

We are lucky in this country, we may collect some species (but not all). We are not permitted to sell them though.

Re: The Nature Photography Thread

No am not winding you up, I used to work at the zoo and in the summer months would often get punters screaming about escaped snakes...go and look and find an aescalapean snake under the tin slide...5 to 6 foot of bloody nasty tempered snake!!!! it would be caught bagged, weighed, sexed and let free in a quieter part of the forest area..
They are not just a the zoo though..in the surrounding forest appently...
do a search on google for...
"colwyn bay" +"aesculapian snake"

Anyway, not going looking for that, not sure if the ones I am going to look for are adders or grass snakes....good boots and thick jeans! and a camera! hopefully get Chloe to come with me on Thursday!
