So, it's once again time for the weekly nature photos..











My first and probably last snake this summer. N. n. natrix, very typical coloration around these parts. Damn camera focused on the grass in the foreground instead of the snake, but it still works as a background picture on my desktop. It let me get very close before starting to move away hissing. That last picture is taken about 10-15 cm from the snake, which I guess was around 60-70 cm long. Hard to tell.

it looks like a kind of bug.
I like the natrix too,but did not imagine that they are native so far to the north.

I think Natrix natrix can be found in at least the southern half of Finland.
