finally, I was able to get some photos of my cat faced spiders...araneus gemmoides..... got a large female and a femle one molt before adult size with 2 males courting her...

they are my favorite....had a house when I was growing up, big vine covering the front porch, dozens of them there...lots of orange ones, black and white one, and my favorite one...black and pink...she died suddenly one summer. she came out of her hiding spot into the web, but her safety drag line snapped and she fell abouit 8 ft onto the porch, she crawled about 2 inches before dieing.....

look at what I found in my backyard
![]() he was easy to spot not just because he's big (2"/5cm) but because I first saw this side of him ![]() he was hanging in a spider web and I'm assuming that this is not the natural colour of his underside he held still nicely for the camera though and I think Mikhaila's science teacher might like him
