Re: Hi

Yes, I have a pair. Bought them last year from a Dutch breeder.
They are still young, born in 2006. But my plan is certainly to breed them in a few years.

One of them...

Re: Hi

I really like th. cyrtopsis cyrtopsis, maybe also because they are my first garters. But like everyone says, there is so much variety and most of them are really beautiful.

Welcome from Belgium

Re: Hi

I like all garters. It's hard tø decide, but I think my favorites are Plains and Red Sideds.

Re: Hi

Howdy and welcome to the forum! Favorite garter...huh....that's a hard one. If I'd have to pic a subspecies....I'd pick T.s.sirtalis (Eastern Garter), just for the simple fact that they come in soooo many different colours and sizes that any thing I'd want I'd be able to find with them.

Re: Hi

I want a flame morph of garter snake. Do different morphs have like different tempers or are they the same?

Re: Hi

Not sure about morphs being different, but the species and subspecies do seem to have different "personalities".

Re: Hi

Also temperments can really differ from individual to individual. Best bet, get a captive bred animal that's fairly young and you should end up with a really nice tempered snake. Having said that, my little Petra (my female T.s.concinnus) always bites me every time I go into her tank, and I've had her since she was a hatchling. Go figure! Think she's just an over zealous feeder and not really mean.
