Lost Contact
Hi All,
I was just wondering if any of our mainland European members know a guy called Peter Geissler from Rehau in Germany, he's a real big Garter fan. He and I were pen-friends years ago, before the advent of the internet, (before the invention of the wheel!) but we lost contact a long time ago. I don't have his address anymore, so I can't write.

Found these two things about Peter Geissler.
The first is commercial with a telephonenumber (from august 2006) The second one comes from the website *Garter Snake Home Page - Alan Francis The webmaster knows him, I understand from the text. Maybe he can help you. Succes... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Guatemala-Strumpfbandnatter", NZ 05, NZ 06, selten in dt. Terrarien. Sehr gute Fresser (Fisch,Mäuse). Bis max. ca.70cm (Weibchen), Männchen kleiner. Haltungsbedingungen ähnlich wie andere Thamnophis. Versand möglich. Bild kann angefordert werden. Peter Geissler Telefon: 09283 1613 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- There appears to be some confusion amongst herpetologists as to what constitutes the "true" Florida blue garter snake - subspecies "similis" as opposed the blue coloured variant of "sirtalis". True similis are from a limited distribution on the north western Florida peninsula, and thus the majority of imported Florida garter snakes are not of this subspecies, but are merely a blue strain of Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis. After discussion and analysis of photographs with Thamnophis experts of more experience than me (personal communication, Jurgen Chlebowy, Peter Geissler, Philippe Blais MD,) I accept that my animals are of the nominate subspecies, T s sirtalis.

Re: Lost Contact
Yes, I got the Germany code off the net. But the number doesn't ring....just the "unobtainable" tone. I found one or two e-mail addresses for him, but my mails all come back undelivered. He also has a home page....unavailable! I'll keep searching, I'll get him eventually.

Just remember, that in addition to prefacing with the country code , you also have to leave off the "0", so that the number then reads: (01)49 9283 1613. Hope that helps.

Re: Lost Contact
Good news! I found Peter! I tried another e-mail address that I found on the internet (last of many I have tried) and I just received a response from him. He seems as pleased as I am to be back in contact. Thanks to everyone for their input. Love you all!
