Hello I found this small snake in my yard, later to find 2 3-4 ft in length in my basement, I live in central ny and I have no idea what kind it is. any insight would be appreciated thanks!
wait nevermind, jus re-read your post and saw you are from NY. That's a baby eastern milksnake! Totally harmless snake, gets to be about 3-4 feet long, eats rodents and other snakes mostly.
Mother of many snakes and a beautiful baby girl! I am also a polymer clay artist!
Now that I can actually see the picture, I must concur.
It is an Eastern Milk snake, Lampropeltis Triangulum Triangulum.
Beautiful and very harmless, don't let anyone ever tell you differently, there are too many New York residents who call these innocent snakes "Spotted Adders" and will try and tell you it's a dangerous snake.
Yup, a nice baby eastern milk snake you got there.
If you found that one, and several more, you can bet there are probably plenty of rodents around. Having these snakes around, even living in your house, is a good thing. Some make great companion pets and do well in captivity on diet of rodents. They're very cool snakes.
From now on, I'll treat others like they treat me. Some will be glad, others should be scared
