Re: website trial
I like it. If I may though.. Personally I would combine your 'Collection' and 'Pictures of Species' pages... Put the common name in the small gap between the scientific name n picture. I'd also make the thumbnails bigger or make a slideshow type deal that when you click on a thumbnail it brings up the full size image but then instead of having to close that window to see the rest, make it so you can click a 'next' button and it will bring up the next full size image with the scientific name n common name. Just a few suggestions you can take em or leave em Just what I would do personally.. but it ain't my site. If you are going to be selling babies n such you should make an 'available list' similar to what I described above .. but with babies available lol.
I took web design in school, enjoyed it.
Its off to a good start though

Re: website trial
I'd keep the photos and collection list on separate pages, but I'd link the name of each snake in the collection to the relevant point on the photo page.
Just a few tips from me:
- If you want to get ranked higher in search engines you're going to need more text, so I'd flesh out the collection page to include a brief description of each species you collect. Consider the keywords that you'd want your site to be found with if someone used them in a Google search, then make sure you use those words several times on the page. It's been a few years since I've had to do search engine optimisation, but back then Google would ignore (or at best rank much lower) any pages that didn't have a reasonable amount of text, I think it was around 200 words. So you don't need War and Peace, but you do need text. This will be particularly important on your "Available" page.
- If there's a logic to the photo page (I'm sure there is with some pics being 2 to a line and others being on their own line) I'd add sub-titles to the page. It will serve two purposes, firstly to help visitors understand the order, secondly to help search engines to rank your page.
- Cap up the titles. In my opinion (and it is slightly subjective) using all lowercase for headings looks less professional.
- Consider editing the main photos to give them rounded corners.
- Do you have any options in the Yola site building software to control how often search engines re-index your pages? Worth setting the main pages to a default, but reducing the interval for the "Available" page if you can.
- I'd consider buying a domain and using that, I know that I tend to take a website more seriously if it's got a registered domain rather than a free domain, and you'd be able to use the same domain for your email as well. Surprisingly, bushsnake.com is still available.
I like the white on black and the clean lines. With a little more text (i.e. the "available" section you're adding, and adding content the "about me" section) it's a good looking, functional site.
Good work Joe. Shout when you want more opinions.

Re: website trial
GoDaddy.com is a good one to get your domain and webspace thru. I have used them for a few years. then you just have to get your web building software. I use Xara.... it's a what you see is what you get type...don't need to know html. they have templates or you can just use a blank page and go from there. you can get the software for about 40 bucks. theres a link to them on my website =) give me a holler if you have any questions
