    Happy birthday charles

Today is the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of charles dickens perhaps the original superstar
when he visited america he was given a reception that could only be rivaled by the beatles a hundred and fifty years later.
He left me with a christmas carol ....god bless you charles.

What would we have done if there had never been a Charles Dickens? Happy Birthday.

To be balanced, I find some of his work to be a little narcoleptic. On balance though, excellent books even 200 years later. Film adaptions of the books vary a lot, the Disney version of A Christmas Carol was a travesty though... you need the Patrick Stewart version for the current definitive TV adaption (me and Char watch it every year). But then, you need to go back to the books still for the unadulterated story.
If you haven't read it, Great Expectations is a good read.

    Happy Birthday Charles.

It's almost 4:30 AM here, I better read some Hemingway and chase it down with a shot of Dickens.

Happy B-Day Charles, you don't even sound over a hundred!
