Re: Sammy's back

Wow that's a big hole.....don't think I realized just how big it was. Glad to hear she's doing well though.

Re: Sammy's back

Yes Josh
she's very greedy, so she ate one of her cage-mate's peach fuzzy

Yes Roy
that was a gigantic lump, extending from her throat to her thyroid - well over 2" long
the vet says that he didn't get all of it, because he didn't want to go too close to the spine, but she looks very different from before the surgery
I am impressed with how neat the stitches look

a funny side note: when Mikhaila got stitches in her leg a few years ago, it was clear to me that we weren't going to bother going to a doctor to get them taken out - it's not that hard and I did it myself. This was fine with Mikhaila. Now both Mikhaila and I are squeamish about taking Sammy's out when the time comes. She more than I though. Given the fact that the vet is an hour away, I may end up doing it myself after talking with him.

Re: Sammy's back

Dont do it unless you are super positive.
Because when i got mine taken out of my head the doctor set the date to early for my dad to take them out.
So it reopened?!?!?!?!
I say vet go to the vet so she/he can reexamine houw the stitches are doing

Re: Sammy's back

I don't mind so much going to the vet even though the getting there is a pain
I usually bring him several snakes to look at for check-ups and stuff
he's the only live in person human with whom I get to talk about my snakes
since I am expecting some new snakes in the next couple of weeks, I can bring some of them too
maybe he'll let me do it at his office
human skin is a bit more familiar to me in the medical sense
I wonder whether anyone's ever done acupuncture on reptiles
