Just registered today - I have a quick question. I saw what I thought was a garter snake on my front porch, and used my broom to help boost it off into the gravel. I noticed that the tail was very blunt - whereas, in photos of garter snakes, they look very long and sharp - do you think it was indeed a garter snake??

Hi Barb, and welcome to the forum.
 Garters often get injured in the wild, and frequently lose a section of the tail.....that would of course make it appear blunt. As Josh says though, a picture would help.

really could not tell you without a picture.....
there are so many diff. type of snakes........try and get a pic if you can then post it on here and we should be able to tell.....
