I believe there is a red morph of the pickeringii. However, I want to ask whether the color changes you are seeing are before or after a shed, and how long after.

My pickeringii grow dull and less blue as their skin ages... then they shed it and turn blue again... and so on...

Most snakes are a more vivid color right after a shed.
