Like Garter Snakes, Musk Turtles (also known as Stinkpots) can secrete a smelly musk from their anal glands as a detense mechanism. So yes, they stink, but only when they're alarmed. They make really good pets and soon stop musking anyway.

I have never seen my (or smelt) my WC female stinkpot musk.
I have a couple eggs she laid for me incubating right now, maybe when they hatch they will be "little stinkers"
