Incidentally, he was an American exchange student. I thought all Americans were that big.

no not really, I guess if you averaged it out it would be some where around 6', but the worlds larges man was from the U.S. and his name was
Robert Wadlow he was 8'11" when he died at the age of 22 from an infection.......................

I thought they'd found a Chinese guy now over 9 foot tall. Loads of publicity about him, about 18 months ago.

wasn't able to find a pic, but according to this the record size recorded is:

record is 39.25 inches (99.6 cm)..............................

I remember listening to a story on NPR (The U.S.'s version of a watered down BBC) that the average American is getting smaller. The tallest, if I can remember, were the Danes.

all I know is that when I moved to the US, I was suddenly no longer the shortest person I knew
I'm only 5'2" (in the morning) and I see tons of people (even guys) on the subway that are shorter than me
so if you have a short snake, tell it there's no reason to strain one's neck - move to where the short snakes live
