Re: hey i was wondering

hi try in cool places as well as hot ones most snakes will do both so look in the mornings in the sun on smooth rocks and cement side walks too, under rocks and cardboard boxes if in the city. under logs but depending on where you live look out for poisionus snakes , if you do not know what kinds of snakes your state has , just go go a gov site for your state
like fish and game or wild life site , just google it..
hope this helps
bring a sack or something to hold it in as well.
bye

Local knowledge is a key to successful herping...ask people where they've seen snakes locally.

Re: hey i was wondering

At my place in eastern Canada, The snake I see most often are either in the fire-wood pile outside, or under bits of wood or logs lying around.
I haven't ever found any laying around on warm flat rocks, and I even laid some of them out last year, but nosnaky came .

For me, under the wood and stuff is the best.

If you want to attract herps (and kill your grass), lay down some plywood. Lift with hooks if in venomous country.
