No Michelle, they don't have scent glands on their faces. I think maybe he's trying to burrow.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that something's irritating his skin.

That would seem (to me) to confirm what I thought... He's trying to burrow as a means of escape. As you know, Dekays like to burrow.

Re: do snakes have scent glans on there face

Mine spends a lot of time just partly burrowed, with his little head sticking straight up out of the aspen. I think he's just nosy and doesn't want to miss anything that might be going on around him ( like the TV!)
The one thing I find interesting is that whenever he eats, I know when he's had enough because he immediately dives right under the bark where the heat pad is and stays for a few hours.

Re: do snakes have scent glans on there face

Hi Anji
I Have a knitted blanket with lots of holes in it .
big holes and he loves to do the basket weaving move , you know in and out and in again.
he knits him self in the blanket and then just pops his head out , made me crack up so bad.
I also take him out to get excersize , well its like walking your snake, but heres what I do , put him on a slick sheet and he begains to do the serpent movement , but never gets the traction, so he never moves...
but wiggles like krazy and loves it .
it keeps him in good shape and he stays strong .
bye
