Garters of October
Yeh, I know I'm a bit late....but here are some pics of garters that I found late in the season. The first two are from here in PA and the last couple are from Ithica, NY...was visiting my sister.
This guy was sunning at a park near my house....see quite a few garters there. Only got one pic taken before a jogger scared him away. ![]() These are from my favorite snake spot. I've been there multible times this past year and I ALWAYS found snakes. This day, I saw garters everywhere! Makes me wonder if maybe there's a hibernaculum some where close by. ![]() ![]()

Re: Garters of October
The next ones I found while hiking with my sister in Ithica, NY. The first is an eastern garter (T.s.sirtalis) that I found around a stone wall at a water fall site and the second is my first Maritime garter (T.s.pallidulus)...at least I think??? Found him further up the mountain where it was rather cool.
![]() ![]() My wife also took a pic of me with the first garter I caught...LOL...I look like a kid with a new toy. Should have had this one for last month's contest. ![]() ![]()

Re: Garters of October
Those are nice. Wish I could find more of the Thamnophis around here.
