Hi, Im new here
Hi, I'm new hear and kinda need some advice. I'm hoping to get my first garter snake (my first snake period), a checkered one, and was wondering if 2 of these snakes can live in a 2ft wide vivarium together
![]() It's just that I have the chance to get a pair with vivarium ready to go for a cheap price. Anything else I should look out for too ![]() Just dont wanna get screwed over when I get em. Help would be greately appreciated here. Thanks. |

Re: Hi, Im new here
hi Colin
welcome to the forum generally garters of a similar size can live together whether your viv is the right size, depends on the other dimensions a longer one is preferable, but if you have a tall one, you can create more space with branches check out this for a lot of good info http://www.thamnophis.com/caresheets...ake_Care_Sheet if you're suspicious of getting screwed, you should probably also get some idea of what healthy garters ought to look like . . .

Re: Hi, Im new here
Hello, and welcome!!
If the garters are young, they should be fine for now in a 10G. But as they grow you will want more space for two together. Best of luck with your new critters! ![]()

Re: Hi, Im new here
Welcome to Thamnophis. The viv size replies you've received so far is sound advice. Generally the enclosure should be equal or greater in length to the Snakes length.
