Butlers are protected in Ohio (where you can own for WC and breed them with a license), and Wisconsin for sure. I am not sure about Michigan... want me to look for you?

The T.e.terrestris are great looking specimens. My understanding of the California regs is that you can legally take two of each speciec of Thamnophis from the wild as long as you have a valid fishing licence (except the Sans of coarse).
