Re: All dead
I have not treated as of yet, because stools look normal, activity looks normal, and they are eating (F/T fish and nightcrawlers) well.
I plan to move them to a larger enclosure in about a week, with no heat lamps or lights, and a reduced feeding schedule. It won't be full brumation, but will be around 65 degrees. After about 3 - 4 weeks, I will resume lighting and more frequent feeding. Then we will see whether they respond with reproductive activity... or not... ![]()

Re: All dead
Bob also has a nice looking trio of adult valley garters listed. I am tempted but not after what I have heard.
To be fair, he is not advertising them as CBB or anything but it would be nice to have some assurance that they are at least healthy. I am not opposed to buying WC, and I am not opposed to treating them, its just that this guy has had his share of problem snakes. Lets hope for the others sake its just the blue ones and he just got a bad batch. I don't see him stopping selling any time soon. I'll be watching the classifieds for when either kitkat or cazador have some available. |

Re: All dead
Sorry for your loss, they were pretty little snakes!! Kinda sounds like he went out and caught gravid females and kept them until they gave birth then sold the babies....I have had occasional problems with wild caught snake babies dieing for no apparent reason. I have worked with Scott Felzer a lot and have gotten some "problem feeders" form him on occasion. There will always be a small percentage of babies die for no apparent reason...I have had a few seemingly healthy babies die on me, and they were eating well. Hopefully some of the other blue babies will survive and we can get some good captive born babies out th ere! I'm not sure how many other serious breeders are out there..in the U.S., but Scott and I are definitely serious about garters (Scott started breeding in 96 and has quite the collection now!).

Re: All dead
It's a pitty to hear of your loss. Hopefully, indeed, some will have luck in the furture on breeding with them.
From all the reading on 'Bob', I wouldn't take the risk of buying from him anymore... |
