Found my first snake of the season today too

Only it's not a Garter snake.

BTW, howdy all.

Found this little guy today in the boiler room at a customers house. Scooped him up and put him in a bucket before she could see otherwise he would have been dead.

I live in upstate NY about 50 miles north of NYC.

My first guess was an Eastern Milksnake but I didn't know they came this far north. What do you all think?

Your first guess was right, Nick. I think they're found as far north as Maine.

Heh, thought so. Never seen one up in these parts. Ah well, I think with this one I'll let him go and just not take my chances.

Have you not been tempted to try Garters again Nick, since the 'lawn mower' incident?

Re: Found my first snake of the season today too

I have, but to be honest I've been a bit busy lately and I'm afraid that I barely have the time to properly care for all the creatures I have now, so no more new ones in the near future unless I decide to sell off some of my corns.

Re: Found my first snake of the season today too

Apparently milk snakes live around here, but I've never, ever seen one........
I'm just praying it warms up enough soon to go out and find anything!
